Futures centered in Life, rooted in Earth.

Our Origin Story

Our Beloved Futures emerged from a longing – a deep soul call to reclaim our capacity to imagine beyond collapse and live in harmony with Earth. It was born through years of study in alternative futures and Indigenous politics, through spiritual awakening, grief, systems thinking, and the devotion of motherhood.

I started Our Beloved Futures because I know that when we create from love, we build futures of collective liberation and thriving, and because I know that in the midst of collapsing systems, love is our guide.

Our Philosophy

We are living through the Great Turning – a time of unraveling and remembering. The world is shifting. The old systems are no longer holding. And in that space of uncertainty, there is an opening.

Our Beloved Futures is guided by the following principles:

WAIWAI

POST-CAPITALIST FUTURES

We believe in holistic assemblages of wealths that are plural, non-dual and beyond the legibility of capitalist economies.

Like the waiwai of Hawaiian culture, these wealths include time, natural abundance, deep connection with human and non-human kin and creativity as some of the possibilities of a whole and wholesome life. The innocence of life force is sacred to our cosmology and is both protected and nurtured by this understanding of wealth.

We seek to dismantle extractive, dominating and violent forms of capital circulation and flow that constitute the current configurations and expressions of late-stage neoliberal capitalism.

WA’A

EMERGENCE

We believe that life is always speaking through us, and that ideas are alive and seeking expression through us.

We believe that our sacred work is to clean and clear our human vessel so that we may more clearly hear the whispers of the multiple dimensions that seek to emerge through us as a collective being on earth.

We believe that the most fully realized life is the one lived in prayer and inquiry, in service to collective thriving and with a commitment to listening deeply and maintaining curiosity over any personal agenda or fears born of belief in scarcity and separation.

Wahi Pana

SACRED LAND, SACRED EARTH

We believe that the earth is a living, breathing entity with consciousness and intention. We see every human as a steward of their body and the other-than-human-world around them in an animate relationality that is fully alive.

Rocks and salt speak as clearly as humans when we have the right ears to hear, and our work centers on this reconnection to multi-species languages of beauty and peace.

In these ways, each person becomes a steward of the sacred spaces where they live and tend the temple planet we call earth.

Pono

RIGHT RELATIONS

We trust the wisdom of plants and other non-human kin, the rocks and waters, the rain and winds to hold us in our sacred purpose and inquiries.

In our words, our thoughts and our actions, we aim to be in right relation with each other and all of life. We engage in practices and studies that help us to recalibrate when we stray off course and fall into old patterns of extraction, violence and fear. We hold each other to a loving account on this path of peace and unity.

Lokahi

INTERBEING

Interbeing sits at the center of our understanding of life and the human journey.

We know all beings as animate, with consciousness and purpose, and as fully entangled with our being. This entanglement provides a richness to the experience of living and it is the reason for our becoming as humans.

Aloha

LOVE AT THE CENTRE

We see Aloha as the shared understanding of the sacred life force in all that comes from love as its source.

Aloha is practiced in Hawaiian culture as the sharing of breath in a greeting and recognition of the life force in another being. When we center love as the most potent force in the cosmos, we open spaces of possibilities for true and lasting peace to emerge.

We believe this is the purpose of our becoming human on earth.
